International Women’s day is a day away but
that hasn't stopped Google from flaunting its women’s day Google doodle on its
home page today. I’d like to believe this is the best doodle ever from Google that pays tribute to women on their day.
Today’s women’s day Google doodle is an
interactive one featuring video clips of inspirational women from all walks of
life taken from across the globe - all put together in a neat slideshow with
music running in the background.
The
women include 16-year-old Pakistani education and women's rights activist Malala Yousafzai, Australian photographer and women's advocate Anne Geddes. Also featured are the first
Filipinas to climb Mount Everest Noelle Wenceslao, Janet Belarmino and Carina
Dayodon, and social advocate and lead mobilizer of #rescuePH Rosario San Juan.
Ryan Germick, Google doodle’s team leader along with his team worked hard for 3 months to create an illustration of 26 mini female chromosomes (and one giant chromosome) in Google’s staple colours, to represent every woman across the world. Clicking on the giant chromosome takes you into a 1.20 minute video showing more than 100 inspirational, real and fictional women across the world, set to music provided by Belgian Congolese vocal group Zap Mama.
The Indians featured are Lata Mangeshkar, five-time World Boxing champion Mary Kom, a bunch of arguably Indian lady cops clapping hands and then another clip of a puppetty
character wishing “Anterrashrtra Mahiladivas Ki Shubhkamnay” in Hindi, roughly
translated it means “Happy International Women’s Day” So yes, let me also take Google's way and
wish all you wonderful women a very Happy Women’s Day in advance.
